19-year-old hit and dragged by ‘reckless’ driver in parking lot, Georgia cops say
A 19-year-old man is on the mend after he was run over by a “reckless” driver, Georgia police said.
The Virginia man was walking or standing in the Westside Plaza parking lot April 25 when someone plowed into him and kept going, according to the Marietta Police Department.
The crash happened around 11:30 p.m., police said.
Investigators said the driver of a silver Infiniti G35 was “driving recklessly and doing burnouts” before he hit and dragged the 19-year-old as he tried to leave the parking lot.
The driver sped away without stopping to help the victim, police said.
The victim was taken to Wellstar Kennestone hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Photos taken by a witness showed the suspect’s car had a test drive tag instead of a license plate. Another pedestrian, who wasn’t involved, was standing near the vehicle, police said.
“We need the public’s help identifying this vehicle and driver,” officers said.
The following day, officers said they had located the car involved and identified a person of interest.
No arrests had been made as of Tuesday, April 29, and police didn’t provide an update on the victim’s condition.

Marietta is about a 20-mile drive northwest from downtown Atlanta.
