Man missing from Kentucky shipyard found dead in river upstream, officials say
A man working at a Kentucky shipyard was found dead in a river after he was reported missing, according to police.
Robert Daryl Dennis, 32, was last seen around 2:30 p.m. April 16, according to a news release from the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.
Dennis was working on vessels at a shipyard, James Marine, Inc. said in a Facebook post.
“His work truck is still at the shipyard with the keys and his safety gear on the hood. His phone and wallet are presumed to be with him but the phone is dead or off,” a Facebook post by Shanna Dennis said.
Shanna Dennis, Robert Dennis’ wife, said he had just arrived in Kentucky the day before and he wasn’t at his hotel.
The sheriff’s office had asked for the public to be on the lookout for Robert Dennis.
Then, around 11:30 p.m., his body was found in the Tennessee River, Chief Deputy Ryan P. Willcutt told McClatchy News in an email.
James Marine, Inc. said Robert Dennis was found off the premises, upstream, and that he did not work for the company but was “working on vessels operated by his employer.”
Officials said they do not suspect foul play.
McCracken County is about a 150-mile drive west of Bowling Green.
