Lottery player thinks she won $50,000 in Michigan. Then, she puts on her glasses
With $15 in her pocket, a lottery player walked into a gas station with a “good feeling” that the number 13 was going to bring her luck.
She bought one ticket from a bin labeled 13 and won $15. Then, the Wayne County woman used the winnings to buy another lottery ticket.
This time, the 52-year-old “almost had a heart attack” when she saw a $50,000 prize, she told Michigan lottery officials.
But the woman missed a zero — until she put on her glasses. Then, she saw she had won $500,000, officials said in an April 17 news release.
“I have been dreaming of winning a prize like this for a long time,” she told officials. “I am incredibly happy and excited!”
The winner recently claimed her big prize and expects to buy a home, start a small business and plan her children’s futures with the money.
Wayne County is about a 20-mile drive southwest from Detroit.
