Relative finds family of 5 dead in Ohio home, police say. ‘I tried to save them’

A man, his fiancee and three children were found dead inside an Ohio home, according to officials.
On the morning of April 15, Phillip Doss went to his brother’s home in Clay Township, according to WSAZ. That’s when he found the five people dead.
Brian Doss, 35; Lora Schuman, 34; and three children, who all lived at the home, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office.
After investigating, the county coroner determined the family died from carbon monoxide exposure, according to the sheriff.
“Never thought this would happen in my life, never. I mean I’m the oldest, I thought it would be me before anybody and if I would’ve stayed with them last night, this could’ve been me. I mean, I tried to save them. I wish I could save them, but it was just too late,” Phillip Doss told WSAZ.
Brian Doss loved driving in derbies, and his fiancee Schuman would be right there cheering him on, their obituaries said.
“You (were) the sweetest person I’ve ever known,” one woman wrote about Schuman on Facebook.
Officials have not released the identities of the three children.
Clay Township is about a 20-mile drive northwest from Dayton.
