A man who has been Tased and shot during encounters with police is once again under arrest — this time as a suspect in his father’s murder, according to investigators in Florida.

The attack happened around 6:45 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, at the family’s home in southeast Orlando, police said in a news release.

“Officers ... responded to a reported stabbing at 9456 Candice Court. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, Meb G. Yohan (70), suffering from multiple lacerations,” police said.

“Emergency medical personnel transported him to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.”

Yohan’s 38-year-old son, Almeb Y. Gebreyohannes, is a suspect, and jail records show he was arrested the day of the stabbing.

He was charged with second-degree murder with a weapon and is being held in the Orange County jail without bond, records show.

Details of a motive have not been released.

However, police have responded in the past to reports of family conflict, officials said.

  • In 2014, Gebreyohannes was “shot during an officer involved shooting when he charged officers with a baseball bat,” officials said. That encounter happened after someone reported Gebreyohannes was “threatening to kill his mother,” police said.

  • In 2022, an officer responded to reports Gebreyohannes was choking and beating his father, police said. “The suspect was Tased after producing a knife and threatening to stab an officer,” officials said.
