A cellphone repairman downloaded nude images off customers’ phones and is going to prison, Ohio officials said.

From December 2021 to April 2022, Calvin Jordan, now age 27, was working at a cellphone repair store in Gallipolis when he downloaded private images from customers’ phones without their knowledge, according to a March 31 news release fromOhio Attorney General Dave Yost.

There were 40 victims, both female and male, including minors aged 14 to 17, officials said.

Jordan pleaded guilty to three counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, one count of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and 36 counts of unauthorized use of computer, cable or telecommunications property, McClatchy News previously reported.

He was sentenced to 49 to 51 years in prison and will be required to register as a sex offender, officials said.

“This crime was the digital equivalent of a peeping Tom hiding in the bushes outside a bedroom window – it’s creepy, and it’s an invasion of privacy,” Yost said in the release. “He will now face serious time for his cybercrimes.”

Gallipolis is about a 150-mile drive east of Cincinnati.
