Car full of brothers and their dog plunges off overpass. 3 of the 5 died, PA cops say
Four brothers and their dog careened off a highway overpass when the driver lost control of their car, killing the oldest two along with their pet, outlets in Philadelphia reported.
Pennsylvania State Police reported that at approximately 8:30 p.m. on March 21, the four were driving a 2006 Mazda north on Interstate 95, near the New Jersey border. The car hit a guardrail, tumbled through the air and fell about 30 feet to the road below, WPVI reported.
Aaron Davis, 23, and Joshua Davis, 22, were in the back seat when the car veered off the highway, according to KYW. They, along with their dog, were thrown from the car and killed. Their 18-year-old brothers were seriously injured but survived.
Police told WTXF that witnesses said the car may have been racing another car before the crash.
“Two vehicles were traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on 95 when one lost control and fell to the roadway below,” Inspector D.F. Pace told KYW.
Donald Hilliard Jr., senior pastor of Cathedral International Church in New Jersey, described the brothers as hardworking men to WCAU.
“These are our church babies. They were born into this church. I christened all the boys. I baptized them,” he told WPVI.
Hilliard told WPVI he informed his congregation about the family’s loss on March 23, two days after the crash. “My prayer was simply, ‘Lord help us,’” he told the outlet. “I talked about it on that night and I had to stop talking, tears just coming down.”
