Grandma visits grandkids in Las Vegas, wins life-changing jackpot with rare poker hand
A grandma was visiting Las Vegas from Hawaii to see her grandkids when she won a life-changing prize at a poker table.
The lucky gambler sat at a Pai Gow poker table March 9 at California Hotel & Casino, the casino said in a news release.
She bet “$25 per hand, plus a $1 progressive side bet” and ended up with a seven-card straight flush, one of the rarest hands in the game, according to Upswing Poker.
Her hand won her the $510,855 jackpot.
A straight flush happens when a player’s cards are in sequential order and in the same suit.
Her winning cards were 7, 8, 9, jack, queen and a king with a Joker wild card representing the 10 in diamonds.
“Diamonds were the best friend of a lucky Hawai’i visitor this weekend,” the casino said in the release.
California Hotel & Casino is in downtown Las Vegas near the Fremont Street Experience.
