Cat was freezing, crying for help in Illinois alley. Now ‘perfect gentleman’ needs home
A cat who was exposed to frigid Illinois temperatures is now on the mend thanks to a Good Samaritan, a Chicago shelter said.
“On February 19, in negative temperatures, a Good Samaritan named Elena heard meows coming from an alley,” the PawsChicago shelter said in a Feb. 24 Instagram post.
“Thank goodness she went to investigate, because she found this white cat, shivering and calling for help. This poor kitty was injured, with an abscess on his leg, and ulcers and scabs on his paw pads, likely from the exposure to the ice and extreme temperatures. He was also covered in flea dirt and very, very hungry.”
The shelter posted a photo of a beautiful, and curious-looking, alabaster cat with olive green eyes and a bubblegum pink nose. While it was clear through the photos that the poor feline was suffering from wounds, he proved to be just a love-bug who loves scratches.
“It was nearing the end of the day when Elena came to our doors, and knowing he would need medical care, we made this guy a PAWS pet and named him Frosty,” the shelter said.
“We got Frosty a temporary set-up while we figured out a room for him, and in between big bites of food, Frosty made sure to say his thank you’s – a perfect gentleman.”
Since Frosty is still healing from his cold Chicago adventure, he’s not up for adoption just yet but will be, the shelter said.
People in the comments section of the videos and photos expressed their gratitude to both the shelter and the person who found him.
“Poor baby was starving I hope Frosty finds a loving home,” another commented. “God bless Elena and all of you — you’re all amazing.”
“He even said thank you while eating!!!!” someone observed.
