The son of a murder suspect is now facing charges in connection with his missing stepmother’s death, Michigan police said.

Dee Warner vanished in April 2021 near her home in Tecumseh, but her remains were not discovered until August 2024 when police searched her husband’s property, Michigan State Police said in a news release.

Her remains were found inside of a “sealed tank that is used to hold anhydrous ammonia,” the victim’s brother, Gregg Hardy, told WXYZ.

Dale Warner was charged with murder in November 2023, before his wife’s remains were found on his property, McClatchy News previously reported. Now, his son, 28-year-old Jaron Dale Warner, is charged with tampering with evidence and accessory after the fact to a felony, Michigan State Police said in a March 3 news release.

Jaron Dale Warner is Dee’s stepson, according to local news outlets, and he was arrested and held on a $125,000 bond, according to police. His attorney information was not listed.

Though Dee Warner’s death was ruled a homicide by investigators on Aug. 21, the cause of her death was withheld as officials continued to investigate, Michigan State Police said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The discovery of her remains came as a shock to her family members, they said in an August news conference shared by WDIV.

“It’s bittersweet at best, but certainly needed, and honestly unexpected after three and a half years,” Hardy said during the news conference.

Jaron Dale Warner is scheduled to appear in court March 10. His father’s murder trial is scheduled to begin in September.

Tecumseh is about a 65-mile drive southwest from Detroit.
