Two $1 million lottery tickets sold at 7-Eleven stores in Florida — just miles apart
Two life-changing lottery tickets were sold at 7-Eleven stores in Florida — just miles apart.
The lucky players, who live in the Tampa Bay area, bought scratch-off tickets worth $1 million, according to the Florida Lottery.
On Feb. 27, lottery officials announced the first of the winners, Chien Pham. The 65-year-old St. Petersburg man got lucky playing the 500X the Cash game.
Pham — who beat 1-in-274,004 odds to win the million-dollar prize — bought his ticket at the 7-Eleven convenience store on 40th Street North in Pinellas Park, lottery officials wrote on their website and in a news release.
Roughly 10 miles to the northwest, another winning ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven on Gulf to Bay Boulevard in Clearwater.
Matthew White, a 43-year-old Clearwater man, got richer in the $1,000,000 a Year for Life Spectacular game. He beat 1-in-185,709 odds to score the game’s second-tier prize, according to game rules and a Feb. 28 news release.
Both of the players spent $50 on their winning tickets. They claimed their prizes as lump sums, which totaled $640,000.
