Casual lottery player ‘absolutely floored’ when she wins ‘life-changing’ prize
A Michigan woman who spotted a growing Mega Millions jackpot decided to play and won big, according to the Michigan Lottery.
Shannon Dominowski, 37, won a $1 million prize by matching five white balls in the Nov. 8 Mega Millions drawing: 25-28-42-64-69. She claimed her prize from the Michigan Lottery headquarters recently, according to a Feb. 21 news release.
“I don’t play Mega Millions all that often, but when the jackpot gets high, I will buy a ticket here and there,” Dominowski said. “Back in November, I was in my Lottery account and happened to see the jackpot was growing so I bought a ticket.”
She said the next day, she was “absolutely floored” to see she’d won.
Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli congratulated Dominowski on becoming Michigan’s “newest millionaire.” Dominowski said she plans to invest the money for retirement.
“It is life-changing for me and my family,” Dominowski said.
