A man is charged in his mom’s disappearance more than a month after she went missing, Georgia deputies said.

Jason Campbell, 34, was arrested Feb. 12, according to the Banks County Sheriff’s Office. He’s accused of concealing his mother’s death.

Investigators said Marie Campbell, 62, was reported missing Jan. 6 after she was last seen in the area of Bennett Road in Homer.

“This meticulous investigation, which is being conducted by our investigators and forensic unit, is ongoing and more details will be released as they become available,” Sheriff Carlton Speed said in a statement posted on the department’s Facebook page.

Authorities didn’t say how Marie Campbell died.

McClatchy News reached out to the Banks County Sheriff’s Office for more information Feb. 12 and was awaiting a response.

Banks County is about an 80-mile drive northeast from Atlanta.
