A man struck and killed a pregnant teen with his vehicle in a hit-and-run crash after her family confronted him, California police reported.

The 19-year-old man dropped a teenage girl off at her Riverside home when her family came outside to confront him at about 11:45 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, police said in a news release.

The man sped away, striking the girl’s pregnant sister, also a teenager, police said.

The severely injured 16-year-old died at a hospital, although doctors were able to save her baby, who remains in critical condition, The Press-Enterprise reported.

Officers found the vehicle in nearby Moreno Valley and arrested Isaac BlackhorseGarcia, 19, on charges of murder, hit-and-run resulting in death and unlawful sex with a minor, police said.

Investigators ask anyone with information to contact detectives Stanley Hua at 951-353-7135 or SHua@RiversideCA.gov, or Nic Cantino at 951-353-7104 or NCantino@RiversideCA.gov.

Riverside is about a 55-mile drive east from downtown Los Angeles.
