A Michigan woman is now a millionaire after her dad gave her a lottery ticket as a “just because” gift.

The 26-year-old woman, who chose to remain anonymous, told lottery officials that her dad gave her a $150,000,000 Spectacular instant game ticket, according to a Jan. 30 news release from the Michigan Lottery.

“I was surprised when he handed it to me, and I asked him why he bought it for me. He said it was a ‘just because gift,’ which I thought was really nice of him,” she said.

Then, she realized just how much the $30 ticket was worth.

“When I scratched the ticket off, I was stunned to see that it was a $4 million winner. I had so many emotions going through my body. I screamed. I cried. I was and still am shocked I won $4 million,” she told lottery officials.

The woman chose to receive a one-time lump sum of about $2.7 million after taxes instead of annuity payments for the full amount. She said she plans to save her winnings.

The ticket was bought in Oak Park, about a 15-mile drive northwest from Detroit.
