Lucky lottery player scores life-changing jackpot prize in Virginia. ‘I was floored!’
A Virginia man won a life-changing jackpot prize while playing online lottery games after work, lottery officials said.
Keith Girard, who works in finance, had just gotten home when he won about $1.5 million playing the Marvelous Money: Paradise Payout game, the Virginia Lottery said in a Jan. 17 news release.
“I was floored!” Girard told the lottery, adding that he texted his daughter who was in disbelief.
He said he doesn’t have plans for his winnings other than paying bills, according to the lottery.
The Marvelous Money game began in August, and tickets cost between 50 cents and $50, according to the website.
The overall odds of winning are 1 in 3.72, and the odds of winning a top prize vary by prize point.
As of Jan. 19, the estimated jackpot is $351,500, lottery officials said.
