Man gives brother lottery ticket for Christmas. It ends up being ‘godsend’ in Maryland
A Maryland man gave his brother a lottery ticket for Christmas, and the timing couldn’t have been better.
Little did he know, it would bring about “a change in fortunes” for his brother, Maryland Lottery officials said in a Jan. 13 news release.
The brother has “had medical difficulties in recent years, resulting in a loss of income and mounting healthcare expenses,” lottery officials said.
When the Middle River man scratched the fourth of 15 numbers on his $5 Cash to Go ticket, it revealed a $50,000 prize. But his win didn’t immediately set in.
“I had to do a double take,” he told lottery officials.
The man said he plans to spend “his fortuitously timed windfall” paying medical bills.
“It’s a real godsend,” the man said.
Middle River is about a 15-mile drive northeast from Baltimore.
