Teacher’s aide accused of rape when boy’s mom finds them home on snow day, Ohio cops say
A 45-year-old school paraprofessional is accused of raping a student with a disability at his Ohio home during a snow day, according to officials.
Deputies arrested Christin Coble of Scott Township on Jan. 7 on a charge of rape, according to a Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office report.
Coble is employed as a paraprofessional — which is similar to a teacher’s aide — at Woodmore Local School District in Elmore, Sheriff Chris Hilton told McClatchy News. The victim, a 15-year-old boy, is a student with the district, he added.
“We received a call on Monday (Jan. 6) from the juvenile’s mother in reference to this woman being at her house with her son,” Hilton said.
Woodmore schools were closed that day “due to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions,” the district announced in a Facebook post.
After speaking with the mother and her son, deputies obtained an arrest warrant for rape and took Coble into custody, Hilton said.
“The investigation is still ongoing, and there may be some additional charges,” Hilton said.
Records show Coble is in custody at the Sandusky County Jail.
The boy has an intellectual disability and Coble worked in his class, according to the sheriff’s office.
He has a mental capacity equivalent to a 9-year-old, his mother told WTVG.
In a statement, the school district said it is aware of the accusations against Coble and that she has been put on administrative leave, the outlet reported.
