Wildly famous ‘Breaking Bad’ home lists for $4 million in New Mexico. Check it out
In 2006, a knock on the door of the iconic house changed the entire world of the home’s owners.
Now nearly two decades later, a piece of Hollywood history has landed on the real estate market … in Albuquerque.
One of the most famous houses in television history — from AMC legendary thriller series “Breaking Bad” — has listed for $3.995 million. If you know the series, you know exactly what famous “protagonist-turned-ultimate-villain” character owned this home.
That’s right, Walter White.
“This is more than a house; it’s a symbol of extraordinary storytelling that continues to make its mark on fans across the globe,” listing agent David Christensen of Christensen Group said in a news release.
The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home was owned by the Padilla family, Fran and Louis Padilla, in 2006 when someone knocked on the door.
“My mother never answers the door, but she did that day,” daughter Joanne Quintana said in the release.
“A location scout handed Fran a card and proposed using the home for a TV pilot. Fran’s initial skepticism turned to excitement when filming began six months later,” the release said.
Though when the popularity of the Vince Gilligan series started to rapidly rise, so did the fan attention of the home that became known as “the White house.”
“This home became a character as large as Walter White himself, sometimes receiving over 300 cars per day, and is a goldmine for an investor looking to have the best Airbnb in the world,” Ryan Johnston of InterPhase Entertainment said in the release.
Quintana told KOB 4 that the home became so famous, the family would receive unwanted tourists day and night. They put a fence around the house after someone delivered a suspicious package at 4:30 a.m. one day.
And that’s not even the extent of their daily lives.
“We average 300 cars a day. Come Balloon Fiesta, hundreds of thousands come for balloons. Balloons go up, they come down. Where do they come? Here,” Quintana told KOB 4.
The house is 1,910 square feet and the inside is nothing like what fans see in the show (the interior of the White house was a completely different set.)
The listing even has its very own website.
