A husband and wife both won playing a Missouri Lottery scratch-off game, but his prize paled in comparison to that of his jackpot-winning spouse.

He purchased two King of Spades tickets at a convenience store in Vandalia on his way home, giving his wife one of them, according to a Missouri Lottery news release.

“He gave me one and he had one too,” his wife said. “And I had the one with all of the money!”

The woman won a $100,000 jackpot. The prize is among the game’s six top prizes, which also offers six $20,000 prizes.

Her husband didn’t come up empty-handed, earning a $15 prize from the $5 game, lottery officials said.

“She came downstairs all excited, and I thought she had won $1,000 or something. But it was a lot more!” the husband said.

Vandalia is about a 190-mile drive east from Kansas City.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
