Delivery driver robbed twice in 7 days by same man on same street, Louisiana cops say
A pizza delivery driver was robbed twice over eight days on the same street, and investigators say it was the same culprit in both cases.
Suspect Montrell Isom, 18, was linked to the robberies after detectives investigated the cell phone number used to phone in the orders, according to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The robberies happened between 11 p.m. and midnight Friday, Nov. 29, and Saturday, Dec. 7, within two blocks along Williamsburg Drive in LaPlace, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. LaPlace is about a 30-mile driver northwest from New Orleans.
“A Domino’s Pizza delivery driver was accosted ... while attempting to make what he thought was a legitimate delivery to a home in the area,” the sheriff’s office said.
Instead, the driver encountered a masked man in the dark who officials said “took the pizza from his hands” and demanded cash.
A weapon was visible in the Dec. 7 incident, the sheriff’s office said.
“Investigators used technology to connect Isom to (the) separate incidents,” the sheriff’s office said. “It was learned that Isom called in both orders using the same telephone number, which was registered to him.”
A search of his home also recovered an incriminating Domino’s Pizza box in the trash, officials said.
He was arrested Dec. 10 and charged with misdemeanor theft and and felony armed robbery, jail records show.
