Man posed as nurse and sexually assaulted patients, PA cops say. Now he pleads guilty
A Pennsylvania man has pleaded guilty to accusations he sexually assaulted patients while pretending to be an urgent care nurse, court records show.
Ramon Garcia, 34, of Philadelphia, was charged with numerous counts of assault and invasion of privacy after a patient reported his alleged inappropriate behavior to authorities in March, leading to a larger investigation, according to court records and an April 12 news release from the Abington Township Police Department.
A Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office spokesperson said Garcia negotiated a plea deal and will receive five to ten years in prison and three years of probation, WCAU reported.
His sentencing has not been scheduled, according to court records.
McClatchy News reached out to Garcia’s attorney Dec. 6 for comment but did not immediately hear back.
Medical assistant posing as a nurse
Garcia worked as a medical assistant at Carbon Health Urgent Care in Abington Township between July 2023 and March 2024, according to police.
His responsibilities included “signing in patients, taking vital signs” and possibly taking blood samples if directed by a physician, according to authorities.
During this time, authorities said Garcia posed as a nurse and sexually assaulted more than a dozen women, McClatchy News previously reported. He was accused of performing vaginal and breast exams, secretly photographing or videoing patients and telling one woman she needed to be observed while giving a urine sample.
Authorities said Garcia also made verbal advancements toward patients, and WCUA reported that he texted or emailed them without their permission.
Officials filed 24 felony and misdemeanor charges against Garcia, court records show.
Abington Township is about a 15-mile drive north from Philadelphia.
