A stepfather upset over unfinished chores fatally shot his 15-year-old stepson, Maryland authorities say.

Darshan Eric Williams, 48, was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of his stepson, Michael Edward Clemons, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office said in a Nov. 20 news release.

Officers responded to a La Plata home after getting a call about a shooting just after midnight on Nov. 20, the sheriff’s office said.

The 911 caller told officers that Williams, who lives at the home, had shot his teenage stepson, authorities said.

When officers arrived, they found Williams standing outside and took him into custody, the sheriff’s office said.

Inside the home, officers found Clemons “unconscious and not breathing,” authorities said.

Officers gave Clemons CPR until medics arrived, authorities said.

Clemons, though, was ultimately pronounced dead, the sheriff’s office said.

Initial investigation showed Williams was upset his stepson had not finished some household chores, authorities said.

Williams is facing multiple charges, including second-degree murder and first-degree assault, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities said an investigation is ongoing.

La Plata is about a 35-mile drive south from Washington, D.C.
