An 8-year-old girl was rescued after getting separated from her family during a snowstorm, Colorado officials said.

On Nov. 8, the girl got lost after her family’s car got stuck in the snow, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

The search began with deputies and fire officials participating, officers said.

The area where the girl went missing was affected by the snowstorm, creating blizzard-like conditions, which made it difficult to search the area, officials said.

Seven hours later, the girl was found alive nearby, officials said.

She had been exposed to the weather and suffered injuries from the elements, deputies said.

She was taken to the local hospital for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery, according to deputies.

El Paso County is about an 80-mile drive southeast of Denver.
