An Ohio father was arrested after authorities said he brought his infant to a hotel where he planned to meet with teens to perform sex acts.

Investigators learned the 38-year-old Hilliard man had been communicating with a 15-year-old and 16-year-old “and traveled across state lines to Illinois” to meet the two for sex acts, according to a Nov. 10 news release from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office in Illinois.

McClatchy News is not naming the man to protect the identity of the baby.

Sheriff Jack Harlan said the man rented a hotel room in Danville, Illinois, about a 265-mile drive from Hilliard, Ohio, and told the teens to enter through a side door.

The man said he planned to bring his baby to the hotel “due to not having a babysitter,” the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities found the man in the hotel’s parking lot and arrested him, according to the sheriff.

The baby was “turned over to family” after a medical evaluation revealed they had no injuries, authorities said.

The man was booked into Knox County Jail on charges including four counts of indecent solicitation of a child, two counts of traveling to meet a child, two counts of grooming and two counts of solicitation to meet a child, according to the sheriff’s office.

Danville is about a 140-mile drive south from Chicago.
