Hitman fatally shoots 23-year-old while she’s in car with her dog, Virginia cops say
Police announced an arrest has been made in connection to the murder of a 23-year-old woman killed earlier this year in Virginia, according to a news release.
An investigation into the incident revealed the woman, later identified as Egypt Carter, was killed in a murder-for-hire plot in February, the Prince William County Police Department said in an Oct. 28 Facebook post.
The department said Drew Buchanan, 27, the accused hitman, was arrested Oct. 15 in Manassas on charges of second-degree murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is being held without bond.
Another Woodbridge man, identified as Denzel Wade, 30, was with Buchanan during the shooting, and is being sought out on an active warrant, detectives said.
According to police, Carter was found suffering from gunshot wounds in her car around 2 a.m. on Feb. 2 in Woodbridge. Fire and rescue authorities pronounced her dead at the scene.
At that time, police said they also found a small dog in the car and turned it over to animal control services.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
“Additional charges against other involved parties are pending in this investigation,” officers said.
A motive for the incident has not yet been released.
Woodbridge is about an 18-mile drive southwest of Alexandria.
