A 77-year-old Ohio woman was arrested after police say she killed a man during “harmless banter.”

Officers responded just before 8 p.m. Oct. 20 to a report of a person shot, according to a news release from the Cincinnati Police Department.

Cincinnati Fire Department personnel found 58-year-old Arthur Osborne dead at the scene, police said.

Kathleen Geiger told police she and Osborne were “engaged in harmless banter when he jokingly requested she shoot him,” WXIX and WKRC reported.

Geiger aimed her gun, which she told police she believed was unloaded, at Osborne, pulled the trigger and shot him in the pelvic area, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported, citing court records.

She called 911 and provided medical aid to Osborne until authorities arrived, WLWT reported.

Geiger was arrested Oct. 21 on a reckless homicide charge, court records show. Her bond was set at $10,000.

Attorney information for Geiger was not available.

Police said the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
