Rampaging driver runs over several people, stabs woman’s husband, CA officials say
A man has been charged in connection to a string of unprovoked attacks, California officials said.
Anthony Carol Sheldone, 42, is accused of running over a dog walker in a crosswalk on Sept. 1 before driving into an oncoming car and attacking a person waiting at a bus stop, according to a Sept. 9 news release from the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.
Then he’s accused of running over two others who were crossing the street, prosecutors said.
He also reportedly asked a woman to take her clothes off, officials said. When the woman’s husband confronted him, Sheldone allegedly stabbed him, per the news release.
Later the same day, Sheldone is accused of attacking two officers and running over a 70-year-old who was crossing the street, officials said.
Sheldone was arrested after jumping from a 35-foot tree he climbed, officials said.
Sheldone of Brownsville was charged with eight counts of attempted murder, seven counts of assault with a deadly weapon, assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury, criminal threats, attempted assault with a deadly weapon, battery with injury to emergency personnel, assault upon a peace officer, evading against traffic and evading an officer with willful disregard, prosecutors said.
