A Kentucky high school staff member is accused of threatening a student at gunpoint, officials told news outlets.

Christopher Collier, 31, allegedly entered a parking lot at Clay County High School, in Manchester, with a gun on Wednesday, Sept. 4, WDKY reported.

Collier was a volunteer member of the high school’s staff, the school district says, but he illegally entered the parking lot that morning “under false pretenses,” the outlet reported.

According to the district, Collier “had previously served as a volunteer assistant strength and conditioning coach for the basketball team” and asked a student to meet him in the parking lot to talk, The Manchester Enterprise reported.

But when the student got into Collier’s truck, Collier pulled out a handgun and put it against the student’s head, officials told the newspaper.

It’s unclear why Collier was threatening the student, but district officials said no other students were involved and that the “investigation is ongoing.”

Allegedly, Collier also told the student he was going to kill him and record a video of it, WKYT reported.

He was arrested the next day, Sept. 5, on charges including terroristic threatening, criminal trespassing and wanton endangerment, the station reported.

Manchester is a roughly 100-mile drive southeast from Lexington.
