Lucky Powerball player one number shy of hitting jackpot. Where was the ticket sold?
A Powerball player in Michigan won $1 million, narrowly missing the $95 million jackpot, lottery officials said.
The ticket matched five winning numbers in the drawing Wednesday, Sept. 4, but not the Powerball, according to the Michigan Lottery.
No one scored the $95 million jackpot prize, which will grow to an estimated $112 million with a cash prize of $55.3 million, for the Saturday, Sept. 7, drawing, according to the Powerball site.
The winning numbers were 7, 10, 21, 33, and 59 with a Powerball 20. The $1 million ticket was sold at a Shell gas station in Westland.
More than 12,000 other tickets sold in Michigan also won prizes, ranging from $4 to $300, the lottery said.
Westland is about a 30-mile drive west from Detroit.
