Gentle Indiana pup is in dire need of a home to ‘avoid further decline.’ Meet Pinecone
A pup in Indiana is slowly succumbing to shelter existence and is in dire need of a home and family.
When Pinecone first came to the Humane Society for Hamilton County in Fishers, Indiana, he was frightened by human interaction and wary of his surroundings, the shelter said in a Facebook post.
But since then, he has shown off his authentic self — which is a loving, patient and rather large dog. However, little by little, his spirit is beginning to fade.
“Pinecone is in CRITICAL need of a forever home—his situation is deteriorating rapidly at the shelter,” the group said in the Aug. 29 post. “This 83 lb gentle giant is running out of time and needs someone to step up and give him a loving home before it’s too late.”
According to his pet profile, the almost 3-year-old Pinecone is very unaware of his big size and is an affectionate pup who just wants to play.
“His favorite pastime? Playing tug-of-war (and secretly winning) with his beloved jolly ball - just let him think he’s the champ,” his profile says.
“Pinecone thrives on routine, finding comfort and contentment in it. Strong, loyal, and overflowing with love, he’s the perfect mix of playfulness and devotion. He learns quickly and eagerly follows commands, especially if squeeze cheese is involved - his favorite treat!”
Pinecone dislikes cats, other dogs and kids, the shelter said.
“The shelter’s conditions are taking a toll on him, and he needs to leave NOW to avoid further decline,” the shelter said in the post.
