Argument over barking dogs leads to 67-year-old shot in stomach, Arizona officials say

A pet owner was shot over his barking dogs, Arizona officials said.

On Aug. 18, Yavapai County deputies responded to Seligman and found 48-year-old Chad Ternasky already detained, according to an Aug. 20 Facebook post by the sheriff’s department.

The 67-year-old dog owner had been shot in the stomach and was flown to the Flagstaff Medical Center, officials said.

He is expected to recover, officials said.

After investigating, police learned the victim was in a bar when Ternasky started yelling at the victim’s dogs, which were barking in his parked car, officials said.

The victim came out of the bar, and the two started arguing, officials said.

That’s when Ternasky went to his car, grabbed a gun and shot the victim, officials said.

Bystanders jumped in and assisted the victim while others helped restrain Ternasky, officers said.

Ternasky was arrested and booked on a charge of attempted second-degree homicide, officers said.

Seligman is about a 170-mile drive northwest of Phoenix.
