A dog is unfortunately back at the place where she started — in a Pennsylvania animal shelter — after her family stumbled onto some harsh times.

Dolly was originally adopted by her family from the Pennsylvania SPCA in Philadelphia, the shelter said in an Aug. 18 Facebook post, but two weeks ago, she had come full circle and was back and away from the people who loved her.

“Two weeks ago, Dolly’s world flipped upside down,” the post said. “When the family who loved her so dearly lost their housing, they had no other option but to return her to our shelter.”

According to the post, Dolly was anxious during her last stay with the SPCA.

“Upon her initial stay with us, Dolly struggled,” the post said. “The ever-changing shelter scene was hard on her, but this family saw past it and welcomed her into their home. For many years she lived happily and was reportedly great with kids, other dogs, and cats.

“Now that Dolly is back, we are doing everything we can to make her stay comfortable. If only the walls of the shelter could tell her that this isn’t the end, that there is hope for new beginnings.”

People in the comment section expressed their sorrow for the nearly 5-year-old pup.

“Aww. She is sad, but precious. Somebody take her home please,” one person said.

“Just had her out for a walk and then we sat and she got a treat which she took very nicely. She’s a sweetheart,” someone commented.
