A mother of three was shot and killed as she recorded a TikTok video with a friend, Indiana authorities say.

“What are you doing here?” 25-year-old Kaitlyn Lee asked the accused shooter, Joshua Thompson, when he banged on her kitchen window with the barrel of a gun, the New Albany Police Department said of the Aug. 10 incident.

Moments later, Thompson fired multiple shots through the window, hitting Lee in the head, police said. The two had been in a “toxic” relationship, Lee’s friend told police, and were often at odds with one another.

Lee was pronounced dead inside her home, WHAS reported. Comments she previously told a friend foreshadowed the shooting, according to police.

“In the past, Kaitlyn told (her friend) that if she was ever found dead, Joshua killed her,” police said in an affidavit.

Officers reviewed the TikTok video, which police said showed Lee and her friend “laughing, dancing and lip-syncing to a song.” They both then “ominously” looked toward the window, leading to the blast of the gunshot “a second later,” police said.

Thompson, 25, fled and later called 911 and said he had shot the mother of his child, according to the affidavit.

He said he went to the apartment to see if Lee had other men there with her, police said. He waited outside for 20 to 30 minutes before peeking inside her kitchen window, he told officers.

When Thompson banged on the window, he used enough force to break the glass, police said in the affidavit. Thompson said he then fired the shot that struck Lee.

Thompson was charged with murder, court records show.

Lee was a mother to three children, according to her obituary.

“I will never be able to wrap my head around how or why someone could do something so inhumane,” Lee’s cousin said in a GoFundMe. “Because of someone’s selfish actions, her 3 beautiful babies now have to grow up without a mother.”

New Albany is a 5-mile drive northwest from downtown Louisville, Kentucky.
