37-year-old Burger King employee sexually assaulted two teen co-workers, PA cops say
A 37-year-old man “used his status” while working at Burger King to groom and sexually assault two teen co-workers, Pennsylvania prosecutors said.
Anthony Burns, of Spring City, was working at the fast-food restaurant in East Pikeland Township when he spent more than a month grooming his teen co-workers, according to an Aug. 8 news release from the Chester County District Attorney’s Office.
“Our teenagers should be able to participate in work related activities without the fear of being subjected to this kind of despicable behavior,” Chester County District Attorney Christopher L. de Barrena-Sarobe said in the news release.
Between December 2023 and February 2024, Burns sneaked through one teen victim’s bedroom window two times for sex acts, according to the news release.
He sent the second teen victim sexually explicit texts for more than a month, prosecutors said. He also sent a sexual photo of himself to the teen, according to officials.
While the teen co-worker was getting out of a booth at the restaurant the two worked at, Burns groped her, according to investigators.
Both teens were girls under the age of 16, authorities said.
Burns was arrested and arraigned July 29, prosecutors said. His bond was set at $150,000.
He was charged with statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and unlawful contact with minors, among other charges, officials said.
A spokesperson for Burger King confirmed that Burns is no longer an employee at the restaurant.
“We were deeply upset to learn of the alleged events that unfolded at this location as these accusations do not align with our brand values and the safe working environment that all Team Members should have,” the spokesperson said in an email to McClatchy News.
East Pikeland Township is about a 30-mile drive northwest of Philadelphia.
