Grandma’s body found in shallow grave in her backyard, cops say. Grandson arrested
Authorities in Michigan have arrested one person after they say his grandma was found dead in a shallow grave.
Dispatchers received a call to perform a welfare check on a 73-year-old woman in Ypsilanti Township after family members became worried when they hadn’t heard from her in several days, according to a May 17 news release from the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office.
When a deputy arrived, they found the woman’s 29-year-old grandson but not her. The deputy continued to search and when they looked outside, they found the woman’s body in a shallow grave in the backyard, according to officials.
The woman’s grandson was arrested and the incident is being investigated as a homicide, officials said.
Authorities have not released the name of the woman or the man arrested.
Ypsilanti Township is about a 40-mile drive west of Detroit.
