Someone tried to smuggle a knife concealed inside a loaf of bread through a security checkpoint at a Washington airport, federal officials reported.

“They thought the x-ray wouldn’t detect that,” Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman Lorie Dankers told KING. “Well, of course it did.”

Photos posted to X, formerly branded as Twitter, by the agency Wednesday, Nov. 22, show the knife and damaged bread loaf discovered at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

“Our sharp team from @flySEA recently discovered this knife hidden inside a loaf of bread,” the post read. “Our officers are trained to detect threats, including artfully concealed items. Great job!”

Dankers told KING the passenger faces a fine for concealing the knife.

“Throw the book at them!” read one comment on the TSA post.
