Student dies after medical emergency at high school, officials say. ‘Never be the same’

Paramedics couldn’t save the life of ninth grader Kingston Davidson after he suffered a medical emergency in class at his Tennessee high school, officials said.

Davidson was in class the morning of Oct. 23 when he “fell ill,” according to Amber Huett-Garcia, a school board commissioner with Memphis-Shelby County Schools.

Paramedics and school resource officers responded immediately, but they couldn’t save his life, according to a statement from White Station High School.

“Today we lost our beautiful son Kingston Davidson,” his mom, Darmeissha Marnae Davidson, wrote on Facebook. “We will never be the same.”

Davidson, described as a “loving son and brother,” was on the football team at White Station, and he loved math and fashion, his parents shared with school officials.

“To his little sister, he was her favorite math teacher,” the school wrote on behalf of his family. “He also loved to stand in her full-length mirror to ‘check out his fit.’”

Davidson was on the path of becoming an entrepreneur, his family shared, and he had a business cutting yards for family and friends. His parents named him Kingston “because they wanted him to have a strong name,” the school said.

School officials have not shared what kind of medical emergency Davidson experienced.

“I spent time with the family this morning, including his sister, another student in District 8,” Huett-Garcia wrote. “I’m asking everyone in the community to keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they deal with the unimaginable grief of losing a child.”

Grief counselors will be at the school this week for students and staff, officials said.

“Please keep us lifted during this time,” Davidson’s mom wrote. “Kingston, job well done. Mommy will forever love you. God needed you more.”
