Lottery player woke up with big win on his mind — then came the ‘triple zeros’
A Maryland man’s dream of wealth became reality with the purchase of a lucky lottery ticket.
Paul Armbrester Jr., a retired grocery manager, attributed his big win to a vision he had earlier that day, according to an Oct. 19 Maryland Lottery news release.
“I woke up with triple zeros on my mind,” the retiree told lottery officials. “So, the first thing I did was buy a few 0-0-0 Pick 3 tickets.”
While shopping at Jack’s Fine Food, a liquor store in Baltimore, his gaze fixated on a scratch-off ticket display. One of the games offered a $50,000 prize, but it was “really just those three zeros” that caught Armbrester’s attention, he said in the release.
He purchased the $20 scratch-off and tested his luck in the store, scratching away. Then, he checked his ticket in the store’s scanner, lottery officials said, which showed him he had won $50,000.
Armbrester told lottery officials he wasn’t too surprised with his outcome.
“There they were, those triple zeros,” the 69-year-old said in the release.
The retiree, who has been an avid lottery fan and occasional winner throughout his life, told lottery officials he plans to use the money to support his family. He counts it as one of his many “blessings.”
