Want to live ‘inside a cello?’ Then this midcentury home for sale has you covered
A beautiful — and unique — home on the real estate market in Oklahoma is getting a lot of attention online thanks to its jaw-dropping design.
The Oklahoma City home is known as the “Cunningham House,” and the four-bedroom, six-bathroom house has listed for $1.379 million, according to the listing on Zillow.com. It’s actually somewhat famous.
“It was photographed by Julius Shulman a famous American architectural photographer. It was featured on the cover of the May 1965 issue of Progressive Architecture and Architectural Digest in 1971,” the listing says. “Greene studied architecture along with Bruce Goff and Frank Lloyd Wright, and lectured at The University of Oklahoma and established with Bruce Goff the American School.”
Because of its prestigious status, the 4,300-square-foot property almost seems like a steal at its listed price.
“Living in this home is like stepping into a piece of art with beauty and nature colliding,” the listing says. “It feels as though you are escaping to your own secluded resort on a large lot with a gorgeous (fully tiled 10 foot pool with diving board) on the north side of the house, a fountain garden on the south side of the house, and huge backyard overlooking the creek and golf course.”
The home caught the eye of Zillow Gone Wild, a popular social media real estate page that highlights interesting houses on the market and people fell immediately in love.
“I love it. I wouldn’t change anything!” one person commented on Facebook.
“Wow! This place is amazing! Kind of looks more like a library from the outside but I‘d live there!” another said.
“Love the brick work and all the woodwork- esp the curves! This house is a gem!” someone noted.
“Those CURVES,” another wrote on X, which was formally known as Twitter.
“I feel like this is what living inside a cello would be like,” one person joked.
