Woman screamed for husband to check Missouri lottery ticket. A restless night followed

Sleep could wait for a Missouri woman, who found out late at night she became a millionaire.

The Henry County woman checked her Mega Millions ticket after the Aug. 4 drawing, and she realized she matched all five of the white balls, according to an Aug. 18 news release.

“I screamed for my husband to triple check,” the woman, who remained anonymous, told lottery officials.

Matching the five white balls — 11, 30, 45, 52 and 56 — earned the woman $1 million. She was one of nine $1 million winners during the Aug. 4 nationwide drawing.

Had she matched the Mega Ball number 20, she would have won $1.35 billion.

Understandably, she had a difficult time sleeping after her big win.

“I only got two hours of sleep!” she told lottery officials.

She said she plans to use part of her winnings for retirement.
