A man from Colorado was found dead and pinned under an ATV after he crash in Alaska, state troopers said.

At 8:19 p.m., on May 20, Alaska State Troopers were called on reports of an ATV crash near Jim Creek Recreational Campground, according to a May 22 daily dispatch.

Christopher Anderson, 38, was found in Knik River “pinned under an ATV at the bottom of a 25-foot drop-off” about 3 miles from the trailhead, officials said.

Anderson hadn’t been wearing any safety gear, and troopers believe alcohol was a contributing factor in his death, according to the dispatch.

His body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, troopers said.

Knik River is about 40 miles northeast of Anchorage.
