A scaly critter slithered into a box of wires in Virginia, causing a traffic light power outage, police said.

Prince William County Police Department officers were called to the corner of Prince William Parkway and Sudley Manor Drive on May 1, the department said on Twitter.

A traffic light wasn’t working and it didn’t take officers long to find out why.

Officers looked inside the electrical box connected to the traffic lights and found a large snake. The officers pulled out the snake and released it unharmed, the Twitter post said.

Based on the photos, the snake appeared to be about 5-6 feet long.

“How did he not get fried into a snakey crisp is what I want to know!” someone commented on the police department’s Twitter.

Prince William County is about 40 miles southwest of Washington, D.C.
