Flounder’s look in ‘The Little Mermaid’ has some fans upset. ‘He’s been through it’

The new promotional posters for the much anticipated live-action revamp of “The Little Mermaid” starring Halle Bailey dropped earlier this week — and some fans aren’t too thrilled with the new look of one beloved character.

In the 1989 Disney cartoon, Ariel’s sidekicks are Sebastian, a critical red crab; Scuttle, a dingbat seagull; and Flounder, a bright blue and yellow fish stuck in a state of arrested development. However, in an attempt to be— well— more real with their live-action characters, each character’s digital makeover looks a little too close to the downright freakishness of the deep, dark ocean.

Especially the once-delightful Flounder, who fans say looks like he’s recently taken up cardio in order to attend the Met Gala.

Oh, no thank you please.

Folks are very displeased with the supposed aesthetic downgrade of the character — who is voiced by “Room” actor Jacob Tremblay — and took to Twitter to express their concerns. And their jokes.

This isn’t the first go-round producers have had with the fan base. After the first teaser dropped showcasing Bailey, a Black singer and actor, people flooded social media with racist comments, Forbes reported.

The live-action version is set to premiere on May 26.
