Nathan Brown and his girlfriend were at an Elks Lodge in Michigan when they decided to buy a couple of Fast Cash lottery tickets.

One of those Michigan Lottery tickets was worth more than they could believe, according to an April 14 news release.

“I looked the Diamond Wild Time Progressive ticket over and was in disbelief when I realized how much we’d won,” Brown, 37, told lottery officials.

He had won a $345,835 jackpot prize, officials said, but he wasn’t sure he could believe it.

“I had the bartender scan the ticket to confirm what I was seeing,” Brown said. “When the message to file a claim came up, my girlfriend scanned the ticket on her Lottery app. Confetti came up on the screen with the winning amount, and that’s when we knew it was real. We were both in shock!”

Brown plans to use his winnings to invest, officials said.

The winning ticket was sold at Elks Lodge #1248 in Three Rivers in southwest Michigan, about 70 miles south of Grand Rapids.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
