Lottery win gives man big ideas — not just for himself. ‘Going to make others happy’
After a man learned he won millions in the Colorado lottery, he didn’t think of himself.
Instead, he immediately thought “of the ways he could help others — even offering the lottery staff a tip,” Colorado Lottery said in a March 2 news release.
“You guys made me happy, so I’m going to make others happy,” the man said, according to lottery officials. The man’s full name was not publicly released.
He bought his ticket on Valentine’s Day at a King Soopers grocery store in Centennial “hoping for a little love,” according to lottery officials.
When the man checked his ticket, he learned he won at least $500.
“But he was in for the surprise of his life,” lottery officials said.
The Aurora man had won $11,555,105.
The man, who took the lump sum of $5,777,552, told lottery officials he plans to help a local school buy “needed supplies.”
He also called his wife to tell “her he’s taking her shopping,” lottery officials said.
Centennial is about 10 miles southwest of Aurora.
