That is a description of a perplexing house that appeared on the real estate market in Sheridan, Illinois, for a mere $269,900.
Take just one glance at the residence from a distance and you’ll understand the question.
The three-bedroom, one-bathroom home stretches 1,512 square feet — and when we say “stretch” we really, truly mean it.
“The property was once part of a larger thoroughbred training facility with box stalls and an owners apartment!” the listing on Zillow says. “The current owners have created a warm and welcoming home with about 1,500 sq feet of living space at one end of the structure AND have retained a portion of the stable that includes some of the original 12’ x 12’ box stalls at the other end of the structure!”

The chicken-coop appearance of the home turned heads on Zillow Gone Wild, a Facebook page and Twitter account that feature unique properties for sale.
“Whoever lives here took pride in it and obviously made an effort to make it welcoming and cozy. It’s also organized and very clean,” one person said.
“If I can’t sprint, uninhibited, from end to end I’m going to have to pass on this beauty,” another joked.
“I’ve never seen a Trailer-Mansion…. Transion before,” someone commented.
“That’s a looooooooooooooooooong house lol. Looks like you could hold a marathon in there,” one person observed.
“My first thought ‘when did ZGW start featuring chicken houses?’” someone asked. “Then I saw it was a real home….”
“I’ve heard of double wide but never quadruple long,” another tweeted.
“The kind of house you buy to be a victim of a horrific crime,” one person noted.
Sheridan is about 65 miles southwest of Chicago.
