A human bone was found along a rocky California beach and it poses a mystery to police, authorities said.
The bone was found by a beachgoer on the evening of Jan. 13 along the RAT Beach shoreline, the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department said in a Wednesday, Jan. 18, news release.
RAT Beach stands for “Right After Torrance” or “Redondo and Torrance Beach.”
The bone was identified as a human femur, or thighbone, by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, police said.
Police and the coroner’s office are “working toward identification,” according to the news release.
