A search and rescue team in Arkansas is on the hunt for one of its own, a 2-year-old dog named Radar.

Radar, a Belgian Malinois trained in trailing for the Sharp County Search and Rescue team, went missing on Saturday, Dec. 3, in Cherokee Village, according to his trainer, Dave Gruger.

“He went missing with the handlers’ other dog, which returned home ... without Radar,” Gruger said.

Gruger said Sunday he had driven at least 150 miles throughout the day looking for Radar, but he was nowhere to be seen.

Radar is said to be “an asset” to the community and has helped the squad locate several missing people since he joined the team, KAIT reported.

“Last year, we were called after a few days of local authorities looking for a possible suicidal individual,” Gruger told the station. “We showed up, and within two hours of being there, we found the individual. Radar put us in the area that we needed to search.”

Gruger said Radar “is extremely friendly” but is “probably pretty hungry.”

A $500 reward is being offered for the person who helps locate Radar. Anyone with information is asked to contact Gruger at 870-847-4731 or contact the Sharp County Dispatch at 870-257-5225.

Sharp County is in northern Arkansas about 130 miles northwest of Memphis.
