A driver killed in a police chase was the same man wanted for robbing a Walgreens two days earlier, according to Georgia State Patrol.

Kenneth Paige, 32, was driving a stolen Honda Accord when troopers tried to pull him over just before 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, along Berkmans Road in Augusta, authorities wrote in a news release.

Paige sped away toward Washington Road where he lost control, struck a tree and was ejected from the car, The Augusta Chronicle reported, citing state troopers. Authorities said he wasn’t wearing a seat belt and suffered fatal injuries.

Further investigation revealed Paige was the suspect sought in a holdup at a Walgreens in Hephzibah on Tuesday, Oct. 11, according to the release. During the chase, troopers said Paige was armed with a gun and was wearing the same gloves he had on during the robbery.

Richmond County deputies issued an alert after Tuesday’s incident and said the suspect was seen leaving the area in a red car, “possibly a Honda Accord.”
